This itinerary presents a good opportunity to get acquainted with the history, culture and architecture of the Ancient Russia and to learn about the modern life of the Russian people.
Nizhny Novgorod is located 450 kilometers to the South East of Moscow, at the site of the confluence of the Volga river and its tributary Oka. Its original name - Nizhny Novgorod - was changed to Gorky after the death of the famous Soviet writer, Maxim Gorky, whose life was associated with this city - his birthplace. Being the third largest city of Russia after Moscow and St. Petersburg it used to be a place forbidden for foreign visitors until 1991. It was this city where the famous Soviet scientist and decedent Andrei Sakharov was sent to for exile. Now the city is open to all visitors, inviting them to discover and explore the rare monuments of the Ancient Russia, and the unique handicraft shops in the vicinities of the city.
Suzdal is famous for the historical and architectural monuments of the Ancient Russia, a major attraction among the towns of the Golden Ring.
The capital of Russia, Moscow, is well known as the centre of history, science, culture, and architecture, and does not require any additional description.
