The Russian costumes of the past days are scarcely ever worn today though they serve a source of inspiration to many a fashion designer throughout the world. The industrial development of the 20th century had put its impact on the fashion designs introducing new technologies and materials. Yet the motifs of the older days, the best traditions of style and form are often used by modern designers to diverse and make especially picturesque and luxurious their top fashion creations. This tour gives an opportunity to trace the history of the Russian costume back to the old times, and enrich visitors with new ideas of clothes design, embroidery, and lace work.

General sightseeing tour of the city, a tea break at the Nicholas' Palace, lunch at the hotel; tour of the Museum of Ethnography, including the "Silver Treasury", lecture by a museum expert on the history of the national costumes (clothes, head-dress, hairstyles, etc.) of numerous peoples populating Russia; dinner at the hotel; evening theatre performance.

Tour of the Hermitage museum, exhibition of fabrics and jewelry; lunch at the hotel; visit the Parfyonov's Fashion Studio; dinner at the hotel.

Trip to Pavlovsk, tour of the Russian Emperor Paul's Palace conducted by a museum curator (exhibition of costumes and personal belongings of Emperor Paul and Empress Maria, of the last Russian Emperor Nicholas and the little heir to the Russian throne Alexei, the fancy dress of the last Russian Empress Alexandra made of swan's down with a huge dress tail; lunch at the restaurant "Podvorye" in Pavlovsk; trip to Pushkin, tour of the Catherine's Palace; dinner at the hotel; visit a concert at the Philharmonics

Tour of Petrodvorets, former Tsars' summer residence, tour of the Grand Palace, welcome cocktail in one of the parlors of the Palace, exhibition of unique collection fabrics, personal costumes of the Russian Tsar Peter the Great, items from the private collection of the Russian Empress Catherine the Great made of gold, silver, mother of pearl, ivory; lunch at the restaurant in Petrodvorets ( in summer a barbecue in the park "Alexandria" is arranged); visit the Cottage museum - tours are conducted by guides dressed in the authentic 18th century costumes; dinner at the hotel.

Tours of the St. Isaac's Cathedral and the Peter & Paul Fortress; visit a fashion studio and a fashion show; lunch at the hotel; shopping tour; meeting managers of the boutique stores; dinner at the hotel; evening circus performance.

Visit the Fur Modeling Factory; fashion show of the new designs of fur articles; visit a fur clothes store; lunch at the hotel; visit a hairdresser's salon; farewell dinner at the popular Russian restaurant "Troika" and folklore performance.
