The Palace was designed by architect A.I. Rezanov and built in 1864-72. Its Florentine palazzo facade faces the Neva embankment. The exquisite and opulent interiors designed in various styles have been preserved intact. The Palace is now used as an elite club of the Academy of Sciences and the venue for international conferences, seminars and meetings.
