Grand Duke Vladimir Palace
The palace, which is commonly named nowadays “The house of scientists”, was built adjacent to the Hermitage museum in 1864 -72 for the Grand Duke Vladimir, the son of Alexander II. Its stylized Florentine palazzo facade faces the Neva. Although several renovations took place there, its exquisite and opulent interiors have been preserved intact. The palace is now used as an elite club of the members of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the venue of international conferences, seminars and meetings.
